OUR STORY
PAST HISTORY - 1808 to PRESENT DAY
On January 26, 1808, the original government land grant of 200 acres stretching from Lower Round Lake Road south to Round Lake Road was given to John Prindle. On July 4, 1899, Ellen (Ritchie) Tasker gave the southern 100 acres that borders Round Lake Road to her daughter, Mrs. Anthony Lucy and the northern 100 acres that borders Lower Round Lake Road to her grandson, Robert Lucy. On December 2, 1960, Robert Lucy gave the northern 100 acres to William (Bill) Lucy and on April 14, 1972, James and Gladys Kenney purchased the 100 acres from Bill Lucy. To this day members of the Kenney family live in the original log home on the Kenney Family Farm.

CURRENT STORY
Shannon Kenney and Richard Stonier met the “old fashioned”, “organic” way a few years ago. Through their mutual love for the outdoors and farming they have been able to make their dreams a reality, by bringing new light to the Kenney Family Farm.

JAMES AND GLADYS' STORY
My first glance revealed a pretty setting, with lush grassland, tall elm treed laneway, a sturdy “hip- roofed” barn in good repair…To the left, a “noisy”, well inhabited swamp and looming in the background shadows, an aged “in-sul brick” house…graced by a lonely willow tree and a drooping lilac bush, on what was once the lawn of early homesteaders.
Each year we “grew” our “herd” of 6 to 25 and soon realized the fruit of our labours by partaking of our own “grass and grain fed”, “no additives” beef!!! DELICIOUS does not do it justice. The hardest part was parting every fall, with a close member of our “bovine family".
Now Jim was an animal lover… With the purchase of the farm, we inherited barn cats, they looked after themselves very well and kept all unwanted pests and rodents away. After a few years we ended up with one cat, a real pet ” Muffin” who met Jim at the gate each night. We “dabbled” in horses over the years with not much luck…a black horse named”Velvet”, an older gentle horse with a sagging middle…nick-named ”Blazing Saddles” by a neighbour. Another Pony named “Lightning” that later ate the paint off the hood of my brand new Datsun!!
A short time after that, we decided to stick to Cattle! Jim(Grampie) found a Hereford companion that he named Patty. We never said good-bye to Patty in the fall, she was a close member of the family. Following him around and pushing the others aside at feeding time. Patty had a white shamrock on her red forehead. When Shannon & her kids were feeding corn cobs through the fence, she ran ahead of the others to get hers first. A bit of Irish in her??? Patty stayed with us for long time..”
